MBBR RAS Water Treatment System
Our specialization is the development and use of Moving Bed Bio Reactor Technology in Recirculating Aquaculture Technology. The technology has been evolving since 1978 and more than 200 plants ranging from production capacities of 10 tons/year to 2,000 tons/year per module has used this technology. The technology itself has gone through four major lead periods with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and now 4th generation concept. Today, moving bed bio reactor technology is considered the optimal concept within the aquaculture industry and the team behind it has an unequalled 30 years of experience with it.
Today, it is a well acknowledged fact that Moving Bed Bioreactor technology (MBBR) is the most optimal for biological filtration, not just for aquaculture, but for most types of wastewater. The team at AAA has been working with MBBR technology since 1978, having used stationary filter types prior to its current state.
The thinking behind MBBR technology was originally to move the media in the water instead of having to move water up and over/through the bio media. With MBBR, one then has a minimum head loss and it makes it easier to pump water around and one can use more efficient low head propeller pumps. Pumps that not just are more energy efficient than other types of pumps, but also last longer.
